On the restroom mirror Marleen writes in lipstick:

MARLEEN

JOE

FOREVAHHH

Now I realize who Joe is. He's the character that was played by Danny DeVito who apparently owns Big Joe's Dog House food-stand next to the car wash. His scenes are either there or not, depending on which version one is watching or remembering, but Marleen is seen waiting around at Big Joe's.

Anyone know what the relationship between Marleen and Joe was?

Not sure, but I think DeVito was busy with "The Van" where he owned a car wash. There are links between these two movies, no doubt.

The 'Joe' to whom Marleen was referring was not Danny DeVito's character. He was likely a pimp or john that she had fallen for...
