Sydney During the Great Depression

The story really is pretty slight. IMO, the real strength of the film is its depiction of the seamier side of Sydney suburban life leading up to and during the Great Depression of the 1930's. Pub life with the accompanying "6 o'clock swill", SP betting, the dole queues, the desperation on the faces of those affected by the crippling economic times, the rabbitoes doing their rounds, the costumes, fashions and technology all looked really authentic.🐭
