Damn Creepy

This movie scared the crap out of me as a kid. The scene where Reed is outside doing yard work and the chauffeur driver pulls in really stuck with me. Watching it now, Reed’s acting in this scene really is amazing: A strong man completely immobilized with fear.

Scared me as a kid, too. But all I remembered was the final scene. Watched it recently and not quite as scary this time. The ending is still creepy but overall an odd, disjointed film. The novel is so much better.

Yeah I agree I found this to be pretty creepy as well.

I remember seeing this movie as a 9 year old in a theater. I picked up the DVD about 10 years ago and it still had the same effect. The "creep factor" in Burnt Offerings is high! Such atmosphere!

It scared the bejeezus out of me just a few seconds ago. I forget how creepy this film was. 1976 was a creepy year for films:
The Sentinel
Burnt Offerings
The Omen
Carrie

I've just watched it for the first time. Solid film, I could definitely see younger viewings finding it scary.

An interesting concept with some solid acting talent present.
