Hey man...yeah, I was glad to finally find this on DVD as well. I can clearly remember watching this one summer night with my mom. I must have been 8 or 9? The chauffeur scared the living *beep* out of me and kept me awake for a long time.

I don't think any of us that saw it as kids back then will ever forget it. It was an effective chiller. Still one of my top 10.

You must be kidding. I was laughing so hard when that guy was sent like a rocket through the window I think I wet myself.

Its definitely worth watching, but scary?? Not in my opinion.

I seen this movie when I was thirteen and the chauffer scared the sh#t out of me.I remember the movie sound was turned up real loud and when the chauffer wheeled the coffin in bette davis` room everybody in the movie was screaming.I recently bought the dvd and watched the movie with my wife and she really like the movie too.I wish I could watch it at movie theater again though, its much more scarier.Maybe a remake of this picture would be cool.

Thats so funny. I remember watching the movie back around then too. I'm 30 now, and have been telling people about this movie for a long time. Never could find it though. I LOVE scarry movies. They scare the S*** out of me, but I love it! :) Got any suggestions for some really scary ones? The most recent one I watched was The Hills Have Eyes, and that didn't scare me so much as it was just incredibly sad! I balled my eyes out during the the night scene in the RV. the ONLY thing that made me keep watching it was that being a mother myself, I wanted to make sure the baby survived. Saw and Saw II were great also!

I too saw this as a young girl, probably about 8-9yrs old. I am 38. Anyways the scene that scared me to death, was the sequence where the coffin is shoved at the camera. OMG...Still gives me chills. I had nightmares about it for years. Seriously I needed therapy, after this one.
If your kids are scared easily, save this one till they are older. Unless you are mad at them..LOL...Just kidding

This was just on tv yesterday morning so I watched it. That scene with the coffin seems a lot scarier in the book-it's pushed to the side of the bed and the chauffeur rips the top open violently. I wonder why they didn't expand the scene to include that in the movie?

Anyway, I thought it was interesting they showed the original print where you can see the hands reach up to stop the coffin and that was cleaned up in the DVD transfer.

man that's so crazy. i've been looking for it for almost 15 years. all i had to go on was the name allderdice. luckily i thought betty davis may have been in it and i was correct and that's how i found it. i'm 33 so we must have seen it around the same time. scared the crap out of me. i found it 5 minutes ago. i'm going to buy from somewhere. just thought i'd share the coincidence. later

does somebody die by falling off a 3rd story roof, and getting impailed on a spire on his way down?

I can't remember what the hell movie that is. I remember seeing it on HBO/Cinemax sometime around 81-82 I think.

OMG It is too funny that everyone remembers watching this as a kid and being scared by the chauffeur. I caught the last part of it on tv YEARS ago (I was probably about 12) and I remember screaming my head off (when the chauffeur shows up in the car). That is all I remembered about it except that there was an old lady in the attic. Ever since I have wondered about that movie (what's it called? Who was in it? etc.) I happened to catch the beginning of this today on cable (Cinemax?) and since is sounded like the same movie I taped it. Just watched it. No offense to anyone who liked it but I thought it was a pretty bad, cheesy movie. But the funny thing is that the chauffeur STILL CREEPED ME OUT!!

That chauffeur scared me worse than anything else in the entire movie...even the deaths themselves didn't scare me more than that creepy, pallid, grinning chauffeur with the shades on as he drove that old hearse slowly past the house and just grinned at David as he played on the lawn.
