Ending?

Just a few hours ago, I was watching "Bubble Boy" with Jake Gyllenhall and my mom told me it was based on this movie- she said the ending was that the boy left his plastic bubble to kiss his neighbor, the girl of his dreams, and dies. Is that how it ends, or no? I'm just curious since my movie rental place doesn't have a copy of "The Boy in the Plastic Bubble."

reply

This movie (the dramatic one) he doesn't die.

Yeah, I haven't seen this movie in eons - but I think the ending was left open given the conversation leading up to his leaving the bubble - along the lines of, 'who knows what the future holds for anyone ... you could be hit by a bus and WHAM DOA' - of course, I also assumed he'd cut his life in half to kiss the girl but that was just me.

Didn't Travolta also do the movie about the boy who lived inside walls and the attic of a house after his family died or moved away?

reply

I don’t think it was John Travolta. I recall the movie you are referring to, but I don’t remember the tittle or anyone who was acted in it. I hate when this happens! Perhaps someone out there remembers the title. The plot was a teenage boy living with his mother commits some serious crime, murder I think. Rather than turn him in or send him away, she partitions off a small section of her home for her son to live in. Soon, the mother dies and the house is sold to another family with the fugitive still inside. The family has a teenage daughter that the boy becomes enamored with. Anyone know the movie?

reply

I recall the movie. It's Bad Ronald and John T. is not in it.

Here is the movie everybody is talking about:

John Travolta was NOT in "Bad Ronald." The main character was played by Scott Jacoby.

The movie Bubble Boy wasn't based on this film.

the concept for both films was based on the real-life story of David Vetter, he lived in a bubble until he was 12, then he died.

I've now updated my profile, it's still crap

Jake's character doesn't die in Bubble Boy. He thinks he does but then his mom tells him the that she's been lying to him and he does have immunities and he gets back up. Lol.

reply

Not quite. At the end of the film, Travolta's character decides to step out of the bubble without knowing whether his immune system can handle it or not. He goes out, kisses the girl, the movie ends. Whether he lives or dies is not shown in the film.

Don't they go horseback riding along the beach?

reply

That's almost right.

I bought this on dvd some time ago, and only got round to watching it last night.

Tod gets his horseback ride, and the movie closes with a long aerial shot of the two lovers riding through fields and forest, as the end credits roll.

reply

i wish his parents would have been awake and seen him leave.

reply

As soon as he leaves his bubble he does go to his parents room to touch his mom. Then he goes outside to see Gina and they ride off on a horse. They dont tell us what happens to him but it is slightly implied that he does die. If he could only live safely inside his bubble, which was the only thing protecting him, and he left it then he would have died.
I MET JOHN TRAVOLTA ON 9/13/07 AT 5:45PM!!!!!!!!!!

reply

My thought all these years after watching the movie when I was 10, is that he did die. Thinking back on it now, it occurs to me that he stepped out knowing he was going to die, but did it anyway because he wanted to experience life before he died.

Just my thoughts.

Can't you READ laura572 or are you just stupid?

The person you say the film is based on died in 1984. This movie is not about him. It states right there in black and white that the movie is based on Tod Lubitch. The movie was made in 1976.

Do the math and next time you might want to read about the movie you're talking about instead of just making crap up so people will think you're smart or something.

You are exactly the same person who forwards those hoax emails to everyone in your address book without checking snoopes first and all you do is send out wrong information creating panic and fear.

Get a life and stop spreading your stupid lies around hre Laura. You're such a loser.

This film is based on David Vetter. In your statement "It states right there in black in white that the movie is based on Tod Lubitch" is totally incorrect and just proves your the one who needs reading lessons. What the plot stated was "Plot: Based on a true story, Tod Lubitch is born with a deficient immune system" Do you see that little comma there they were just stating that it was based on a true story then continued on with the plot.

Do the math and next time you might want to read a little more carefully before you open your big mouth to insert your foot and thinking your correcting someone and trying to make people think your smart or something when instead your a retard who can't even properly read the plot (great research by the way).

You are exactly the same type of person who trolls internet forums and flames innocent people thinking your better than them when in actuality your too stupid to read the plot correctly or even google and do some proper research on the subject. I hope you have learned a lesson because your whole post makes you look like a moron.

Get a life and stop spreading your stupid lies around here anewkirk-2. Your such a loser.

P.S- You can google more about this topic to confirm I speak the truth but since I believe you don't posses the brainpower I went to the liberty of doing a quick search on the topic myself and will present you with a link.

You sir are a sad waste of skin and should seriously think of saying sorry to laura572.

Sadly, both anewkirk-2 and John Travolta's portrayed character are dead.

anewkirk-2 died of an overdose of booze and pills, and JT's character died of pneumonia.

So sad, but unfortunately a "Movie of the Week" would not be as interesting if everyone lived happily ever after.

Would we be enchanted by Eve Plumb if she just cleaned herself up and got married?

Now I haven't seen this in many many years and I was a little girl at the time. But at the end of the film doesn't it give some kind of message written across the screen letting the audience know that he died. I might be wrong but this is what I remember.
