Time for a more realistic Woody Guthrie biopic?

Since we are now in the throes of what amounts to the Second Great Depression, it might be interesting to see how a Woody Guthrie biopic based more on his actual career might fare today.

IMO about 15 years ago, Sean Penn would have been a good choice to play Woody Guthrie, but he is getting too old to do it now (Penn is 51 and Guthrie was well into his Huntington's Disease phase by that age). Although Woody looked "well-weathered" from the time he was about 25 on, so I suppose Penn could still fill the bill.

Why do you think the 1976 film is unrealistic?

Looks, shmooks.

It's all about a GUITAR PLAYER. To play a musician you should be one and David played guitar like it was part of him.

Penn has the liberalism down, and he and Carradine both in real life are/were "millionaire's sons" but...

BOUND FOR GLORY is just fine by me.
