Poor Lynn Redgrave...

While her sister got Oscar noms and classy period flicks, Lynn 'Georgy Girl' Redgrave, had to do crap like this and poor episodic television to pay the bills. It such a shame for such a classically trained actress, she was awfully over the top in this box office and critical flop.

Streep has another 20 years to win another 2 Oscars, go bitch go.

Don't be such a snob.

Lynn Redgrave may not have been a snob herself, and actually wanted to do this movie for the joy of it. Say what you want about The Big Bus, but it was the prototypical comedy spoof film and paved the way for movies like Airplane! The performances of all the actors were supposed to be "over-the-top."

And every once in a while, work like this is a "guilty pleasure" for classically trained thespians. It might even be more demanding for a person who is classically trained to do an over-the-top comedy like this, so maybe she also wanted to take on that challenge.

If anything, you should be more critical of her stopping down to do the Weight Watchers commercials. That was done solely to "pay the bills."

Also, even Lawrence Olivier had his own moments in doing bad stuff just to earn a paycheck. Take the Neil Diamond version of The Jazz Singer. Even though it wasn't a comedy, I'd rather watch The Big Bus anytime over this lousy excuse for a remake of the 1927 Al Jolson classic. At least The Big Bus was original enough for other filmmakers to be inspired by it.

Lastly, who cares what the critics thought of the movie!

The above is my scarlet letter . . evidently, buried in my past postings, there is something untoward, something that nearly shook the earth from its foundation!! . .. can't imagine what, however.

ANYWAY, "El Jeffro"? Is that Spanish for "The Jeffro," or am I an idiot?

re: "...had to do crap like this..."

How can something with "Jane's Book of Bombs" be considered "crap?"

"Oh, the humanity!!!"

Maybe she did it because she had a better sense of humor than you?
