Get it released - Beauty and the Beast (1976) Discussion

I'm willing to help get this released, but how do we go about it? I've made numerous phone calls to different movie organizations/tv companies and have come up with nothing! It's really strange that it has just disappeared....I'm just wondering if Disney didn't buy the rights to it and have destroyed it, because they don't want any competition with their version?? Let me know -

I have also been the route. It was a Hallmark special or something wasn't it?
I would love to see it released again. I just don't know where to begin.

I spoke with a Public Relations Officer for Hallmark Hall of Fame Productions and she stated that #1 they (Hallmark)never owned the movie and #2 the last she heard the movie rights for "Beauty and the Beast" were sold to Children's Workshop Network. I tried to contact them but received no reply.

Its a Hallmark movie. I have called several times, When I call for other things and they ask if there is anything else, I always tell them to relese this to video!!! Let me know what we can do!!!

my husband is searching for this movie also.We searched through ask.com and came upon a hit for moviehunter.com this place might have bootleg copies for sale. They are pretty pricey though. maybe if we all forwarded the moviehunter link to Hallmark, CBS ,and odysee entertainment they may see that they are losing out on a lot of sure sales and release a true DVD for us.

Noone believes me that this movie ever existed, let alone the fact that it is a wonderful version! I have many friends who are fans of George C. Scott, who would love the chance to see this movie! If anyone figures out a way to get it released, please let me know! We are happy to help! =)

Oh, finally! I've found others who are searching for George C. Scott's, Beauty and the Beast! I saw it 20 years ago and would love to have a copy of my own. It is the absolute best adaptation of the fairy tale that I've ever seen. I guess I'll have a look around at Hallmark's website.

I have been looking for this movie for ever as well. I saw it on E-Bay. It had sold for 54. 00. I don't know who bought it. I was going to try and get a copy of it if possible. I've tried to get in touch with Hallmark with no success. Maybe if someone could find out where (what studio) it was filmed at they may be able to help. It just seems to be lost somewhere. I really can't believe, that since he died, that more of his movie haven't been put on tv. Carol Carnes
