Walter Matthau was nominated for a BAFTA...for another movie?

IMDB says that this movie was nominated for a BAFTA. It was for Walter Matthau. But...not for this movie! But for "The Sunshine Boys", from a year before!

"Nominated
BAFTA Film Award
Best Actor Walter Matthau
For The Sunshine Boys"

WTF??

Apparently he was nominated for both movies; have a look at this web page: http://awards.bafta.org/award/1977/film (Also note that Dustin Hoffman was nominated for two different movies that year, and Jodie Foster won that year in the Supporting Actress category for two different movies, Bugsy Malone and Taxi Driver.)

Hmm, you're right! But it's still IMDB's fault. They should write:
"Nominated
BAFTA Film Award
Best Actor Walter Matthau
(also for The Sunshine Boys)"

But anyway, the whole thing is wrong. Actors (and everybody) should get nominated for 2 movies separately, because...it's 2 different movies! For example, in 2001, Steven Soderbergh was nominated for Best Director 2 times, one for "Traffic", and one for "Erin Brockovich", not one time for both movies!

In the past, the BAFTAs basically awarded actors, directors and even screenwriters for a body of work rather than just individual achievement. Examples, Robert Towne won the 1975 BAFTA for Best Screenplay for two films, The Last Detail and Chinatown-- Jack Nicholson won Best Actor for both those films as well. The same year Sidney Lumet was nominated for directing both Serpico and Murder on the Orient Express.

IMDb used to write it as "also for (x movie)" but they changed it to just "for (x movie)" for some dumb reason.
