I saw this in the theater in San Francisco when it was released. Everything that I've read says that the full version wasn't released in the US then, but I distinctly remember the cat scene and lots and lots of penises. Did anyone else see the full version in the 1970s?

shareThe cat scene and "lots of penises" are in in the four hour R version. The NC-17 version is mostly just longer, but it has a longer version of the sex scene in the barn between DeNiro and Domanique Sanda. It's in both versions, but there are several shots in the one that were trimmed out. Mostly a high angle shot showing DeNiro's butt thrusting over and over as he lays atop Sanda.
