Is this one any good?

I've seen a lot of Stuart Whitman movies but I missed this one.

This one is fantastic! Whitman is in top form as a tough cop looking for answers in his sister's death. Lots of action and violence in this typical Italian cop film. Tisa Farrow, John Saxon, and Martin Landau are all great as well. Montreal is also a refreshing change from the usual NYC or Italian locations. The car chase is simply amazing and is one of the best from the seventies. Definitely check this one out. The soundtrack is also nice with Armando Trovajoli's funky chase music.

Could'nt agree more with blur81. It's pretty good for a low budget flick. That's unusual. First saw it on TV back in the very early '80s, and still remember the car chase. Look past the '70s clothes, the acting is brill (Martin Landau! come on the guy's good.) get a copy and let it all wash over you.

It has quite a surprise ending too.

it isn't merely any good. it's very good. one of my favorite movies. it isn't all that low budgeted a movie, either. maybe it wasn't as expensive as the hollywood films made by clint eastwood and burt reynolds that came out around the same time. but it's a fairly elaborate production. stuart whitman, john saxon, and martin landau didn't come cheap and large scale car chases are expensive to film. so i would say that the film cost at least several million dollars. not ten million, but not five hundred thousand dollars either. it was about as expensive and elaborate as any of the (non hollywood affiliated) films that came out of italy or canada at the time. ("strange shadows in an empty room" was an italian/canadian coprodution. it was filmed in montreal by an italian director and definitely has an "italianate" feel.)
