What happened to Mabel King?

She didn't like how little the show gave her to do. Apparently, when she was first approached to do the series, they trumped-up the Mama role. Of course the A and B plots usually revolved around the three boys. She loved the episode they did about Mabel going back to get her high school diploma and she hoped they'd do more shows like that, but I guess the powers that be weren't really interested. I *believe* she wasn't fired, but left the show on her own accord. I read that she didn't come back for What's Happening Now!! because they didn't offer her enough $$$.

There wasn't enough food.

It is true Mabel King left the show on her own mainly because they werent giving the character of Mama Thomas much to do but be there to give Raj whuppins and tell Dee to shut up. The writers also left her as a single mother without much of a life outside work but for some odd reason the kids' father got to be a recurring character and get married to someone else during his tenure on the series. It just wasn't altogether fair the way Mama Thomas was treated so instead of her role getting smaller as the kids got older, Mabel left the series.

When there's no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.

IO read that she didn't like her character working life. Being a single mother and working as a maid. Something about it being degrading or something
