Too Many Seasons!

According to imdb it started in '76 and ended in '84! I think that was way too long.

The first episode was broadcast just before I went to Secondary School and the last episode was broadcast after I had left for goodness sake. The early episodes were fun to watch, but they ran out of ideas and it went on too long.

Then again perhaps I got irritated with the show because I was growing up and maturing and it was still aimed at a younger audience.

Fun at the beginning but I later tired of it.

No, that's correct. I remember being FAR too old to watch it. It went downhill when Dobbin appeared.

I bought series one on DVD and was impressed at how it handled issues like suicide, the possibility of an afterlife and ghosts.

I think it went down hill long before Dobbin, IMO it went down hill when they changed the concept after the second series.
