The Milk Woman's Name?

I love "Open All Hours" and must have watched it hundreds of times over the decades.

One thing that I have always found puzzling though, was that the Milk Woman, played so beautifully by the gorgeous Barbara Flynn, has no name, other than "The Milk Woman".

Almost all the other characters, even the ones who do not appear in shot, all seem to be referred to as Mr or Mrs such-and-such.

I wonder what Roy Clarke was thinking when he left one of the pivotal characters without a name?
