Whatever became of Laurie Johnson?

Wow! Laurie Johnson really added fantastic class to the original quite maudlin 1960s "The Avengers" theme music by John Dankworth, debuting with "Hot Snow" 1/7/1961 imdb.com/title/tt0516848) but I guess it was fortuitous because the theme music for The New Avengers seems almost as monotonous as Dankworth's original.
