The Avengers tackles environmentalism which was becoming more and more prominent at the time and borrows heavily from Alfred Hitchcock. The scene which always stands out for me is Purdy being trapped with the birds pecking at the door which genuinely scared me as a kid. But kitty to the rescue, a rarity in fiction.
