Pepsi & Milk

She actually drank this concotion on the show. Has anyone else tried it?

reply

Yes..I tried it in 1978 when I was 10 and it's horrible.

Imagine instead of using "Chocolate syrup" in your milk, you decided
to use the syrup found in "convenience store fountain" sodas and you drank it!

 😨 😛 

If you haven'talready...DON'T DO IT!!!! 

Go for it or just be a gopher!

It was OKAY , from what I remember.. back when I drank MILK.. AND PEPSI.. can't drink either now.. lactose intolerant and not supposed to have caffeine.. just the thought NOW.. YUCK.. I believe.. I put a LOT MORE SODA.. THEN MILK.. so, it was more of a creamy soda?

reply

I did it a few times when I was younger, it just tasted watered down.

Penny Marshall based this on her own life, when she was a kid her mom would use the same cup to give her milk as to give her Pepsi and she never even paid attention if the cup was still half full of one before she poured in the other before giving it to her.

reply

I tried it as a kid. It's like a watered down float. I don't drink either ingredient now.

Penny Marshall said she drank pop when eating dinner with her Jewish friends but her mom would make her drink milk at home. Maybe she said at Jewish camp. Dairy and meat are never to be mixed by some.
So she and her mother compromised by combining the two and it became her drink.

reply

Garry Marshall mentioned it in his autobiography.

I don't know how he and Penny were able to stomach it. Yech. 

I have tried it and enjoy it. If you use skim milk it will taste watered down. I would suggest either whole milk or at least 2%. I don't drink it all the time, but for a nice treat I will.

It was their answer to an Egg Cream. In case you don't know what is an egg cream it is milk, chocolate syrup and seltzer.

reply

I've tried it a few times. It tastes like cream soda. People drink cream soda and don't get grossed out by it, so I don't really see why milk and Pepsi would make a difference.

Now if you want to try something really different, drink milk and scotch. As bad as that sounds, it's actually quite good.

It's ok my older sister had me try it back in the 70's when we'd watch L&S....it was ok, I was like 8

reply

It's not bad. As others posted, it's a bit like a float after the ice cream has melted.

Once, as an experiment, I decided to try milk and ginger ale. The milk curdled and I ended up with a glass of something resembling ricotta cheese. I thought it best not to taste it...

reply

Yep, a bunch of us tried it when we were little kids because of the show. It's not bad.

In college we made cheap "white russians" with Pepsi, a little milk, and a shot of vodka. One of my friends called the drink the DeFazio. Please don't judge me, we were young.
