Bert Sommers, the man who played the kong "Flatbush" during the first season, passed away in 1990. He had a solid music career, but ruined it with drugs. He had several albums, performed in "Hair" and even played at Woodstock.

That is a shame about Bert Sommer. He exuded confidence and charisma as Flatbush. He was also a member of the group the Left Bank.
