Question aboit the boxsets

Hello,

I am thinking about purchasing the boxset. It is my understanding that the series was released twice. The first release contained the Rod Serling programs and the entire series. The second release had higher quality transfers of the individual episodes, but did not have the Rod Serling programs.

Just looking at Amazon, could someone tell me which set is which?

Thanks!

The first release in 2012 has the two Rod Serling narrated specials, and the brief remake series from 2002 on disc 7, which the re-release in 2015 does not for some reason. I liked the two specials, hated the remake, so it's absence there is a mixed bag. I only have the first release in 2012 which I have watched numerous times, and am quite happy with. I haven't watched the second release, so don't know if the transfers are higher quality or not, but it's quite reasonably priced, so would have to recommend that.

I reviewed that box set elsewhere on this board if you are interested. Hope this helps.

I got the second set. It is only the original series. Three cases. Two seasons per case. Eight teen discs overall. For only about $40.

Here is the link: https://www.amazon.com/Leonard-Nimoy-Search-Complete-Collection/dp/B00P5QYWH6/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1479271800&sr=8-8&keywords=in+search+of+complete

But you can get the other set for about $5 more that does include the season 7 with Mitch Pileggi and the Rod Serling movie.

There's a third set--a bargain release selling for around $20, put out by VEI. I bought it from Amazon a week ago. It has a slipcase with two boxes inside, one containing seasons 1-3 and the other 4-6. All the discs are stacked on one spindle in each case. And there is no episode listing (easily found online, at least by season if not by disc).

I admit I was disappointed to see the discs on spindles, but... 144 episodes for twenty bucks is a great deal.
