What does Caligula say at then end of I Claudius ?

Near the end of I Claudius, the dead emperors and other relatives of Claudius come up to speak to him.

Caligula says something along these lines:

Uncle Claudius it turns out I wasn't _________________ after all, you could have knocked me over with a feather.

I can't distinguish what the missing word(s) is/are as the background noise is too loud.

Does anyone know what Caligula says ?

Originally I thought it was 'sane' (based on that question he gave Claudius about his sanity). But it's been pretty much confirmed that he actually said 'the Messiah.'

"When they told me I wasn't a god"

the Messiah

"the messiah" -- the implication being that Caligula thought he had all fulfilled all the omens/predictions of the messiah (timing of birth and death, killed by his own people etc), as Herod Agrippa (born in Bethlehem etc) thought about himself as well. But it turned out to be the "unknown Jewish guy" after all. ;-)

I think Caligula actually says "when they told me I wasn't a god." Jesus or no Jesus, Caligula thought he was divine.

Never mind! I just rewatched the scene. He says he "wasn't the Messiah after all." I really need to see this again. *blush*

I wonder what he and Livia had to say when they ran into each other in hell.....

"Great theater makes you smile. Outstanding theater may make you weep."

I wonder.- if Tiberius had had his life.again, would he have been Emperor?

He says, and I paraphrase, “They said I wasn’t that messiah after all! You could’ve knocked me over with a feather when I heard!”
