Most beautiful woman in 'I, Claudius'

For me it's Vipsania ( Sheila Ruskin), first wife of Tiberius. Too bad that she has only two scenes in the whole series.

reply

I would say Sian Philips in Episode 1. Strange enough, I also like her late-60s look in "What to do about Claudius?/Poison is Queen" (minus the scenes with her hair pulled up).

As for males, it's between Brian Blessed and James Faulkner (YUM!)

reply

Sheila Ruskin is a good pick.

I'll add:

Patricia Quinn (Claudius's sister)

Many of the I, Claudius women looked gorgeous at various times in the series, including the wretched Messalina (Sheila White).

Calpurnia

~~~~~Patricia Quinn~~~~~
That's why she looked familiar! I noticed when she jumped to the left.
reply
Yeah, Patricia Quinn as Livilla was a real knockout, with her glittering green eyes that weren't visible in her Magenta makeup.
reply
I thought that was just me...
It's not "sci-fi", it's SF!
reply
My vote is Messalina....
reply
Livilla, she's the most effective Femme Fatale of the series.
I was highly disappointed by Agrippina the Younger, why the hell is she so old, she NEVER lived to be that old.
reply
Barbara Young was forty at the time of filming. Unless I am mistaken, that's right about Agrippina's real age when Claudius died (which the majority of the episode is set).
reply
They made her look no younger then 60.
reply
My favourite was Julia-felt really sorry for her.
reply
Yes, Livilla (Patricia Quinn). I think it was because she looked like a Roman rather than a shopgirl you'd see in Reading or Scunthorpe.
It's an honor and a privilege to be the first to put in a vote for my personal
favorite . . .
(drum roll)
. . .Beth "Drusilla" Morris.
Oh yeah, Beth Morris.
Between Patricia Quinn (Livilla) and Sheila White (Messalina) for me.
reply
I thought Aggripina(wife of Germanicus)and Calpurnia(Claudius' friend) were gorgeous.
reply
Another vote for Agrippina. She was magnificent. Livia and Messalina were also beautiful.
reply
I always thought that Irene Hamilton (Piso's wife Plancina) was a striking woman.
I wonder what happened to her as shortly after I, Claudius she has no more credits here on IMDB.
reply
Livia herself gives an answer to this question early on in the series, though I'm going to have to paraphrase: She's asked if it's true that she was once the most beautiful woman in the world. Livia replies: "There was another one. But she was in Egypt. Besides, she didn't last as long as I did."
reply
For my money, it's Moira Redmond aka Messalina's mother. She was actually more beautiful than her daughter.
Just my 2 cents worth.
reply
Quite agree.
