I was seventeen or so when, as a high school student in Wilton, Connecticut in 1979, I watched it over WNET Thirteen, the PBS station in New York.
In the fall of 1983, as an impecunious student in my third year at New York University, I learned that WNET was about to rerun The Glittering Prizes - and so promptly withdrew c. $400 from my bank, took a bus from my tiny rented room at 88th and Madison to an appliance store in lower Manhattan, and there bought a VHS recorder on which to tape the series.
A quarter-century after that, in 2008, I placed upon my wish list the much-awaited DVD, and recommend your watching it as soon as you can.
