This Americans very favorite sitcom ever

I just have to say, as an American, that "George & Mildred" is my favorite sitcom ever-even including American sitcoms (which are pretty much awful). I love Brian Murphy. I think he's the best comedic actor I have ever seen.
"George & Mildred" only played here in the USA for one summer (at least here in the NY area). I happened to be unemployed at the time and caught the show for the maybe 2 months it was on around 1982 or so. I never forgot it. When the internet hit and we could actually order DVD's from the UK, I quickly ordered the entire series. And for once it's every bit as fun as I remembered.

Glad to hear you like it so much. I agree Brian Murphy is great. I watched another series recently (The Booze Cruise), that he appeared in in the mid-2000s and it reminded me how funny and likeable he is.

He popped up in a few other good shows like One Foot in the Grave, but I think he deserved another couple of starring roles like he got with this show.

Yes, I bought another British DVD simply because Murphy was one of the stars, called "The Treasure Hunt". He's good in it, but nothing can match his George Roper character.
It was also great to see him, just a little bit, in the recent British series "The Cafe" which aired over here in the U.S. for about a year. That series is really sweet, heartfelt, and has depth in a way that American 'sitcoms' could never be.
I have also seen a couple episodes of 'One Foot' that he was in.
I'm thinking that 'The Booze Cruise' sounds familiar but I don't recall actually seeing it. Thanks for the tip, I will certainly keep my eye out for it.
