Dream Episode

Anyone remember the episode where Kate had the dream about wrecking a car..that was not theirs. Later in the episode, something happens to her
car, and it goes to the garage, and the loaner car turns out to be the one in the dream..(to her horror)

Buddy was "babysitting" a friends racoon, and got bit, Kate took her to the
hospital, in a "loaner" car and.... hmmm I cant remember if they actually crash in the car or not.

Yes...the episode aired in 1979 and is called "Fear of Shadows". I have it on DVD, transferred from VHS. Actually, I have all but eight episodes: having a blast revisiting the Lawrence clan.

You can peruse a comprehensive episode list at:

...If you click on the episode titles, you get some still shots and snippets of dialogue from each episode.

Oh to be so lucky as to have the REST of the series on DVD.

Hey I kinda remember this...I vividly remember Kate waking up fomr her nightmare right as in the nightmare the crash happens...I think a Ford LTD is involved...and and can't remember either if they actually crash or not but I think someone runs a stop sign.

Yes! I have that on tape as well. Kate never actually crashes the car becuase the dream "saves" her. She hears the ball bouncing from the little kid and she slams on the brakes just as the ball rolls out onto the street and the kid darts out after it. No one hurt and a lighthearted breakfast scene ends the episode. Where is season 2 on DVD??!?!?!

That episode was one of my favorites! Kate was pre-occupied due to the recurrent dreams and she turned into another car damaging her Pinto (the other car may have been a Ford LTD). The loaner car they brought to the house was a bright red Chevy Chevette, which had been the car in her dream. She was going to just avoid driving the Chevette until she got her own car back, but needed to drive it when Buddy was bitten by a racoon and had to be taken to the emergency room. This was when the "near" accident happened. There was a song playing on the radio that had also been in her dream causing her to slam on her breaks before hitting the little boy. It was a great episode! I really wish they would put the rest of Family on DVD.

Season 2 is on the DVD set that was officially released a few years ago -- it contains season 1 and season 2. I think the first season was a little shorter because it premiered mid-year instead of the fall.

I think this episode is still on You Tube. It's a season 3 ep.

Always one of my favorite episodes. Remember it from 80's syndication. Loved the eerie dream sequence played throughout.
