What's with the lollipops?
I've been watching this great show for a while and noticed that the end family members were to pick lollipops and people began to either cheer or boo. ???
Anyone got and idea?
I believe that if the lolipop they picked had a black mark, they won a sum of money; it might have been $100 or so.
shareYes you are correct about that..it was worth $100. I love at the last daytime episode how Dawson gave one family the lollipop with the black mark after the last one got one not marked.
sharethere was also one where he didn't even have them pick. he just gave the old lady a $100 one for her birthday.
shareI think the story behind it was that one of the producers told Richard about a young girl who had some terminal illness, and suggested that he send her some lollipops. The young girl passed away around 1983 or 1984, and since then they've had the lollipop trees next to the contestant's tables.
