New Perrin series

I watched an episode of the "new" Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin last night and I must say that I just don't know why they bother to remake a series this this. The original is very good and no improvements were needed. I do like Martin Clunes (Doc Martin, et al) and I suppose if one had never seen Rossiter in the original it might be all right. A major part of the success of the original was due to Leonard Rossiter and the the writing of course.

Anyone else see the new one? I would be interested in your comments.

I thought the new show (I have only watched part of the first one) was not so hot ... it really did not transfer so well, and the bite on the original series is not there. To many cliches now, and too much silliness without aim.
