I certainly agree. I recorded the whole thing several years ago on VHS and come back to it from time to time. When the actual VHS recordings came out I was disappointed because the entire series was presented in abridged form.

In its full presentation, Reggie's "Fall and Rise" was more understandable.

I am watching it as I write this and I am full of guffaws...even after so many years.

Truly sad that Leonard Rossiter was not awarded for this series. What makes this series unique is not only its brilliant script and acting, but that it was indeed not a situation comedy but a story with full development, beginning, middle and end.

I have seen only snippets of the later series without Rossiter. Frankly, it just wasn't the same. Rossiter was the heart and soul of this masterpiece.

I didn't get to where I am today watching an episode of Reggie Perrin without Rossiter...

Cheers.

I want to get a couch that "farts" when people sit on it, much like C.J.'s.

You are so right about those early VHS recordings they released. They were gutted horribly, and Rossiter's masterful "slow deterioration" in the beginning was completely missed. The slow "Fall" came across as a Keystone Kops fall with all the heavy editing. And to keep the story even semi-coherent, the best lines (which did not really advance the plot) were cut out.

I'm in America and there is no Region 1 of this series being released. Why there is no demand for it I'll never understand. When crappy series that didn't last more than six episodes end up on the shelves within a year of their cancellation, the masterpieces are unreleased.

This show was truly subversive, and of course they have to gut it to release it to the public. People are being brainwashed and all the humanistic art is being stowed away and removed from sight.

I just got through watching all three series on DVD and wow, wow, wow. I was in fits of laughter from start to finish. Great acting, super writing and knockout comedy are some fundamentals of this showed.

I completely believed everything Reggie was going through. I didn't get where I am today by not completely believing everything Reggie was going through!

The guy that says super! That guy! I just want to imitate him when I'm in the pub, to draw out every word with the nervous twitches and all!

my advice is don't bother looking for a copy.

this pathetic show should never have seen the light of day and is an insult to the memory of mr rossiter. despite the best intentions of the fine cast it fails to be even slightly amusing, and mr nobbs should be flogged for having the cheek to think he could get away with this turd of a series.

not great, not super!
