By having one of the Angels be an ex-professional model instead of having a legitimate law enforcement background, didn't it just reinforce the argument by critics that Charlie's Angels was really just a T&A show instead of a serious crime drama?
To a lesser extent, this could also be argued about stunt-casting Shelley Hack, who at the time of joining Charlie's Angels, was the face of Revlon's Charlie perfume.
But they still said that Hack's character "Tiffany Welles" was a trained cop who had also completed Police Academy.
All of the actresses until that point were supposed to be playing trained ex police officers. It was understood these weren't actually police officers but actresses playing a character who was an ex police officer.
Changing the characters and saying Charlie now did not need a trained ex police officer working at his agency anymore was what killed the series.
Julie just kinda sorta stumbled into the job even though she had no professional police training. Why did Charlie lower job standards??
In real life you don't have to be former law enforcement to be a PI. I know one in NJ who is a former Engineer.

As for models, Cindy Crawford and Brooke Shields both have Masters Degrees. Kathy Ireland is a former engineer. Heck even Gal Gadot with her military training could probably transition to become a P.I.
Not a model but Forgot Robert Vaughn who had a PhD. An actor who definitely had brains.
