I can't believe that no one has written about this show.
The Captin and Tennile were a huge part of the 70's.
I would love to see how awful the show is buy todays standards.
You oughta look again. :) Okay, maybe this was cheesy, but everyone seems to think that everything 70s was cheesy anyway. I am a child of the 70s and that assumption really offends me. I'd far rather watch the stuff I remember from those days than any of the disgusting junk that's on TV now.
Sure, the comedy was incredibly corny and inane, but the musical numbers were without exception top-notch. C&T have always been complete professionals and they are overflowing with talent. They themselves found the comedy sketches difficult and were reluctant to do them, but did anyway, like the troupers they were.
So tell me how reality TV is any better than this. My only hope is that in a few more years, people will realize that the "cool and sophisticated" things they're so avidly watching now are really just different versions of cheese. In this case, rancid cheese. We need more of the good old stuff on DVD.
I too am a child of the 70s and I will take any single show, and any year of music from the 70s over anything since. Today's music is trash, the humor crude and vulgar and most actors cannot act. There is nothing wrong with tradition the problem we have is that we have had no talent before us since the late 80s today its all garbage and autotune
shareI just got the DVD and I must say, it is hard to get through.
I might just put it on Craig's list before I even finish it.
The jokes are very lame, and most all of the singing is lip synched.
The skits are bad, I mean really just fall flat, the jokes on the side of Laffy Taffy are funnier.
If you are thinking of buying this for the music, use your money instead for The Midnight Special series.
It did last only 1 season so..
