Captain, how hard is it to smile while you're playing the keyboards?

It's damn hard when you're shy...

BTW, something nobody knows about: Daryl Dragon has an untapped sense of humor that he's kept well hidden all these years. It just wasn't the same kind of humor that ABC wanted out of him when they had the variety series. I expect he didn't smile much when he was playing on that show because he was just plain exhausted. He supervised every last one of the musical numbers, helped produce and polish them, and often played in them. And just when he'd finally got done with the work on one show, he had to start all over again with the next week's episode. Even smiling can take up more energy than you have after that much effort.

Weird couple. Toni coasted through every show looking like one of The Grinning Americans. The Captain, meanwhile, clenched through every show looking like he was clinically constipated. But I suppose love has kept em together... cuz God knows, it wasn't their variety show.

He seems to have a dry sense of humor.

Class example of domination and control, much often found in the adult entertainment industry (e.g., Chuck Traynor and Linda Lovelace. Chuck was a bully, Linda, a victim. Nobody liked “The Captain” because he was, you know, NOT LIKABLE. And his call manipulative relationship with Toni had nothing to do with her eating disorder. No. Not one thing.

I have some swamp land in Florida that you might want to buy.

The 70s had great Rock music, but vomitius 🤮 pop music. Afternoon Delightf? Really?
