Is Columbia/Tristar part of Sony Corp? If so, I can ask a friend of Mine who is an executive who handles film distributions there at Sony. He likes films like this and I can put in a good word or ask him about it. I had lunch with him a few months ago...

You've got it right. Even though it was a huge hit in my home town (lots of farms and truckers, so you can see why) not so great everywhere. I got the boot on ebay and I had to say not too shabby, that is until I got the laserdisc. Although the framing cut more off all four sides than the DVD, the picture was superior but the sound was so-so. Until I got the Japanese Laserdisc. Great picture and sound but had to put up with the Japanese subtitles.

Sometimes I can't figure out the reasoning behind DVD releasing. Why movies like Myra Breckinridge are released as a special editions and classics like Point Blank and Marlowe can only be caught on Turner Classic Movie channel are beyond me.

Oh well, just need to kick back and play the game.

reply

No, but the Action network is showing it--I watched the last 1/2 of it this morning. Maybe you could record it.

reply

Yes they are, and I just recorded it to DVD yesterday. While not a great film, one I hadn't seen since I was a kid and was glad to be able to watch it again. It's definitely high on my Top Ten Trucker Movie list: http://www.andrewnixon.com/movies/trucker.htm

Great to see your information about White Line Fever...I'd love to show it to my kids...saw it when I was in college.

Do you have any recommendations regarding how I could get a copy either on VHS or DVD? Thanks! Robin

Im looking for the movie!!

If it means anything to anybody, it was last released as a big platter full screen 80s laserdisc flipper. Jan Michael Vincent's 'White Line Fever' & 'Vigilante Force' are two of the best 70s redneck action flicks ever made...and Kay Lenz, need I say more?

reply

Can be bought on Ebay on dvd...recorded laser disc version not a bad copy

reply

Anyone recomend anybody to purchase this from on EBAY?

reply

Yes, I got a copy off ebay. It's worth getting. It's pretty good video quality, meaning the DVD recording is good, but the film could use a professional restore. There's a little graininess. I figure this was the result of the age of this film, or the original copy of the film used to record the DVD being neglected and semi-forgotten until someone tried to save it for DVD. The surprising thing about the DVD I got is the audio quality was very good. Ran it through a fiber connected THX surround system and it was a pleasure to watch/listen to.

reply

Did you buy it for FilmFreaks or Lost Classics?

reply

Personal reasons. I saw this film when it came out in theatres, Mom played hookey from work and we went to see it. Being a latchkey kid, I thought that was cool of her, the memory of it stuck in my head.

reply

dethscul, may I ask what label? Is it legit or a fan bootleg, widescreen, etc? Thanks to a reply in advance.

reply

I got a bootleg, from a guy called Filmfreaks or Lost Classics.

reply

Thanks for the reply. My wallet's telling me to wait for the legit.

Try www.truckerflicks.com I think I saw it on there.

reply

Check out ebay, that's where I got my copy. Not cheap. Good quality. Of course I would love to see a beautifully restored version--gotta see Jan-Michael's chiseled features and baby blues nice and clear...but the copy I received was pretty great indeed. Love this movie!

reply

Now upload it as a torrent and make us all happy :D

Mill Creek Entertainment are releasing this film on Region 1 DVD on March 17. Suggested retail price is only $9.98.

I am the Duke of IMDb bio writers! I am A#1!

reply

Why - yes, Mill Creek has released it on DVD, and in widescreen format, even!!!

I bought it for myself this past Christmas, and just watched it last night: just as good of a film, as I remember it being, when I was 10 years old!

I don't see a catalog number on the box or the disc, but on the barcode there's the 10-digit number 83904-54010, and to the far left of that there's a 6, and to the far right of that, there's a 2, if anybody goes hunting for it.

FWIW, I found it at my local TA truck stop (Sparks, Nevada)., along with "Convoy", "Breaker, Breaker", and "Smokey and the Bandit". (they had all of these on their shelves at the same time!)
