Private Vices, Public Virtues was one of several Italian co-productions Jancsó worked on during this period, and as a result, as Michael Brooke notes in an interview on the Blu-ray, it adheres to relatively standard “western film norms.” That did not, however, stop Jancsó from offering up a smorgasbord of soft-core sexuality, with abundant full-frontal male, female, and hermaphroditic nudity (to say nothing of the incest and bestiality thrown in for good measure).
