To paraphrase one of the user reviews, "this is L.H.O.T.L. done right". I couldn't agree more with him/her.

I agree. This movie truly sucked. It was NOT "Last House done right." It was "Generic revenge melodrama gone horribly wrong."
shareI still think this movie packs a harder punch than the highly overrated, terribly made L.H.O.T.L. The added emotional dimension and typically beautiful Italian cinematic approach [ Regardless of how ugly and/or unoriginal the subject matter is ] makes Night Train Murders a much more tragic experience than Wes Craven's silly little 'brutal' movie could ever be. I consider this film's inspiration [ L.H.O.T.L. ], along with everything else Wes Craven has made, utterly laughable.

PostmortemG echoes my thoughts exactly. Night Train Murders is better in every way (excepting it woulda been cool if Hess starred in this instead) and definitely is not silly or trite, IMO.

To say Night Train Murders isn't similar to The Last House on the Left is comical. Various titles for Night Train Murders alluded to the 1972 classic, such as Second House on the Left or New House on the Left. The tagline ("You can tell yourself it's only a movie...but it won't help!") is a direct rip-off. Obviously, the plot (and I use that term loosely) is almost identical.
I'm not saying that Night Train Murders is a total waste, as it does have some good points--but anyone that denies NTM took its inspiration from Wes Craven's notorious film is delusional.

I thought it was fantastic. I wouldn't call it a rip off either, Last House isn't exactly original in terms of rape and revenge.
