I can't believe I've gotten this dorky!

As of now for a guy used to being a player for the past 4 years, I'm feeling a little burned out from the game with the ladies.
But Lately I have been getting my "dork" on by watching a show about UFOlogy on the History Channel called "UFO Files". My perticular peak of interest has been on the happening with Betty and Barney Hill. I found it to be quite breakthrough on Betty Hill's part for humanity to have asked the aliens where they came from and they understood her question and showed her a map of the star system in which they came from.
My curiousity is why we don't focus Hubble over that way and see if there is any life form or space craft action going on there.

Carl Sagan sheds light on the subject towards the end of this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9VLAWxDut0

Don't let ANYBODY give you crap about watching History Channel. They have some damn good programming. I miss them! (I don't have expanded cable anymore.)

Nah, the History Channel has really gone down hill. They used to have good shows (and yes I like 'UFO Files') but now it is all about Hitler and British Nationalism (two connected themes though the shows support the latter).

This is a case of pareidolia...and this whole star map thing is just another example of lack of rational mentation....We like to see patterns in any random distribution of points. Almost any chart of stars could produce this supposed map. (The so called Fish Map, based on this incident.)

If one believes this is a real map of three dimensional space, the one needs a few years of training in logic...

To a point, I agree with you - the foolish "Face on Mars" once again proving how the eye can trick you.

However, what is your opinion of her drawing lines radiating out from one of the stars? This seems like "icing on the cake" as to compared of just random point correlation.
