Name of Movie?

I can't figure out the name of a movie I remember seeing awhile back... actually I can't even remember the story. It has something to do with a guy seeing some creature and he promises never to tell anyone about it. Somewhere near the end he falls in love with a girl and tells her what he saw. The girl was actually the creature and kills him. Or something. It's driving me nuts.

This description sounds similar to the plot of a made-for-television film
entitled "The Cat Creature" (1973). It starred Meredith Baxter (then Birney)
and David (Al) Hedison.
