The second story was just pointless - spoiler

So we had Karen playing two parts. An frumpy young woman, and her disrespectful, outrageous ***ty 'sister'

Now we could all see it was Karen was playing two parts. It was her movie and she was in all three stories. And it is a horror movie, so it's unlikely they were really 'twins', or 'sisters'.

So she had to have a double personality. Therefore the brain-dead 'twist' at the end was just a waste of time. I knew it as soon as the story started.

I guessed the twist right away, too. I wonder if it was so obvious to people in 1975. Anyways, I still enjoyed the story because I found the character interesting.

reply

I think it was obvious from the start but then maybe this is because horror has come a long way since then. Maybe back in 1975 this was "shocking".

The second story was just an excuse to highlight Ms. Karen Black's assets.

"Don't tell me your little problems son, all I'm interested in is results."

I was old enough in 1975 to see this when it first aired on TV, and YES everyone guessed the 'twist' right from the beginning.

And all the talk was about the third segment, with the doll. Most people thought the first two segments were time wasters.

reply

Definitely the weakest of the three tales. I guessed the twist very early too.

I saw this when I was a little boy. The only part I still remember is the one where the goofy doll comes to life. If I remember correctly, she tries to kill it in her microwave oven. Or maybe she put him in a regular oven. I cant quite remember. It was pretty scary for a little boy.
