The endings of the original and the remake...preference?

The 1974 film has always been a favorite of mine so I put off watching the remake for years. Gotta say that Ritchie's version made me appreciate even more how great Mariangela Melato was as the spoiled wealthy blonde. Shame on Madonna for thinking she could do better. However, Adriano Giannini was surprisingly good in the role his father originated.

I never liked the original's ending. It went on for too long and although sad the emotional punch was a bit muted. I much prefer the remake's ending.
