I agree. When I saw it as a teenager I thought it was the greatest thing ever, then saw it as an adult... YIKES!

It’s a fun b-movie to chuckle at but it’s nowhere bear as brilliant as the album.

Did you take the proper medication before watching it?

I watched it for the first time this year and I liked it

It's wierd, but not without merit.

Not just the rock stars of the era doing fabulous guest numbers, I mean a Tina Turner freaking out on drugs is always worth seeing, but because of Ann-Margaret. She was fantastic, in a film where you just don't expect fantastic acting! She single-handedly gave the film a heart, made it into the story of a mother's heartbreak, guilt, and love. She really can be fantastic, in the right role.

I think Tommy is a f*ing brilliant film. It could never ever be made today because no producers are brave enough to do something so wild, inventive, experimental, and totally drug-induced.

The music is great! Standout performances by Tina Turner, Eric Clapton, Elton John, and definitely Ann Margaret. Oh….and The Who. Can’t forget them, huh?

The closest musical in the past 3 decades would be Hedwig and the Angry Inch. It’s not as insane, but it’s pretty brilliant as well with a stellar muscial score!
