She was absolutely stunning in this. Even as a straight 12 year old girl back in the day, I thought she was incredibly beautiful and I wanted to look just like her!
shareOh, my yes. I was going through puberty when I first saw Tommy in the late 1970s, and Ann-Margret simply pole-axed me. I could never look at a can of baked beans the same way again.

Ann-Margret is gorgeous in Carnal Knowledge but her character is sad, almost tragic, and Jack Nicholson's character is a first-class SOB toward her. It makes for good drama, and may be the most compelling part of the film precisely because it is painful to watch, but I was not very impressed with the film in any event, and I've never been a fan of director Mike Nichols, anyway.

A few years later she had a significant role in Magic opposite Anthony Hopkins. She was later upset that director Richard Attenborough used a nude scene when the two characters are talking in bed together all post-coital. It was not supposed to show anything, but it sure did. Got this 17 year-old's attention right away.
