When Baru has a change of heart and decides to lead the 4 women out of the jungle to escape from the cult, they show a tree trunk a couple of times with what appears to be Hebrew (!!!) letters carved into it. I'm wondering, what did the sign say, was it 'The Forbidden Zone---Enter at Your Own Risk' or something like that, and why in the world did they (the filmmakers) choose Hebrew...remember, this movie takes place in the Philippines!?!

Very good observation! Perhaps the "blood cult" started out with chapters all around the world and their orginal written language was Hebrew.
