I was wathing this film and after 4 hours I see the scene where the travelling players are seen alltogether and we hear the narrator saying "we had 48 hours to sleep" etc it ends. So I thought that there was something wrong with the film version that I had. But then I watched it on you tube and it ends exactly the same. Is it how it ends really?

The UK Artificial Eye PAL release runs 3 hrs 42 min on an NTSC player, ending with the troupe assembling again for the train, and the narrator saying "In the fall of '39, we returned to Aegion. We were tired. We hadn't slept for two days." This shot is nearly but not exactly identical to the opening (after the introduction), and the opening narration was a bit longer. There are no end credits.

Just saw it, and you didn't miss anything. That's how the film ends.
