Dracula?

OK...so why the Dracula get-up in that nightclub scene? I really don't know why Tsurugi has to put those fake fangs in for - it just seems completely random. Was there a big vampire movie out in Japan at the time or am I missing something? I realise he'd made reference to Dracula to the telephone operator girl, but he didn't even know she'd BE there. Odd.
