I came to know recently that Ram Gopal Varma is going to remake this movie

Well yes thats true, RGV is remaking this Epic!
Its not the same storyline.. It is based in Mumbai and on the Mumbai Underworld Scene.. The guy in the Movie James : Mohit Ahlawat, is rumored on playing Jai and Abhishek Bachchan is slated tot play Veeru (Dharmendra's Character) although this isnt official as yet.. Only Amitabh Bachchan is for sure playing Gabber Singh..
I said this b4 also, and I am saying it again.. It'll be like remaking Mona Lisa with a different style with the help of Computer Graphics! Which may work, but its an insult to the original.. *IMHO*

Please do not compare the original Sholay with its upcoming remake. The two MUST be seperated from each other in comparison process. What Ram Gopal Verma (RGV) is doing is an experimental avant-garde of Sholay in modern times. Today's modern culture depicts Gabbar Singh, Jai, and Veeru in a different perspective, although the inner characteristics maybe same, for example, back in 1975 you would post a letter to your friend VS emailing the same letter today - but the practice is the same.
I really hope people do not compare old and new Sholay together, or else the audience will be highly disappointed.
My suggestion: Watch the new Sholay with a Non-Indian and see what he/she thinks of it.
