The biggest problem I had with this movie

The sales ad at the very beginning called the pool "olympic" sized. Bullcrap, it was just a standard backyard-sized pool.

What is this? A pool for ants!?

Don't know if you know this, but this is an English speaking forum.

No, it isn't, I don't think you HAVE to write in English on IMDb.

It's awesome when the biggest problem with a movie something so inconsequential.

Can't stop the signal.

I noticed thebsame thing, quite funny indeed.

That is a very serious problem.

"facts are stupid things" Ronald Reagan

reply

Not sure if I'd consider that a flaw in the movie. Advertisers have a tendency to exaggerate.

reply

It’s called false advertising, and it is illegal.

Now, if the announcer had said “A Lilliputian Olympic-size swimming pool . . . “

“This way to the egress.” - P.T. Barnum

reply

Yes, but false advertising happens.

reply

And it gets punished by law. You know: fines, jail. What is your point?

You don’t know what ”Lilliputian” means, do you?

reply

The point is that laws against false advertising and fraud don't stop these things from happening.

I wouldn't consider the hotel using some hyperbole in its advertising a movie flaw. It's completely plausible that they would do something like describe a pool as Olympian when it didn't actually meet the official requirements to qualify as Olympian.

I thought that was clear in my post and reply.

And it's extremely rare that anyone ends up doing jail time because they made an advertisement that overstated some things. I really doubt it would happen in a case like this, where the word Olympian was used loosely. At worst, they might get sued or fined, but that seems unlikely to me, considering all they did was fudge the size of their pool. Not exactly life or death.

Also, my reply didn't have anything to do with your Gulliver's Travels reference. Insulting me the way you did doesn't make much sense. If I'd written something that gave the impression that I thought "Lilliputian" meant something other than very small, you might have been on to something. I might have read your comment and felt a little embarassed.

As it is, what you wrote doesn't really carry any sting. Just a pro tip for your future attempts at being a dick on the internet.
