Anyone who is saying this movie is 'art' has serious mental problems. As someone who is very well versed in history, Mussolini, etc, I find that this movie made no sense and is just out to be disgusting and gross and shocking. It serves no purpose, much like a Serbian film. Serious *beep* movie. Pure *beep* trash.

Tell me about it. You can always tell someone by their immaturity and lack of education when they pretentiously prattle on about how this movie is about Fascism, and it's "oh, so obvious."
Saying someone has "mental problems" because they can appreciate the depth of this movie really just shows how "mature" you are.
People can see things differently, okay. If you took this movie at face value for it's shocking content and allusions to history then that's your problem.
Not every work of art has to be "beautiful" for it to be meaningful or emotionally resonant.
I think this part of an interview with Gaspar Noe and why his mom showed him this movie perfectly sums up why this movie resonates with people.
the day I turned 18 my mother wanted me to see [Pier Paolo] Pasolini’s Salò. She said now you are old enough to see a precise portrayal of human cruelty. Maybe because my parents escaped Argentina during the dictatorship to avoid ending up in a torture camp like their friends ended up, she had a particular concern about the portrayal of human cruelty and torture. So she said, “You want to know how bad life can turn? Come with me and see this film.”
This movie is a perfect representation of how bad life truly can become for some people.
Instead of discussing this movie the way a mature person would you just write this message to put other's down and give yourself an ego boost.
You don't have to bother with replying though, you've already proven yourself to be a judgemental prick.
Then I would say you didn't get the message behind it, or the metaphors and symbolism Pasolini was trying to get across. It wasn't revolting content for the sake of being gross like movies today are. It had a purpose.
