Kind of a dud

In the original, Rudolph saves Christmas - that's easy for the kids to relate to. In this one, he saves the New Year - who cares? And don't get me started on that disgusting bird. Can you imagine the droppings that thing left?

Oh, well - at least it's better than the one where Rudolph teams up with Frosty the Snowman to save Ethel Merman's circus.

Yeah I've never been able to connect with this one. I remember seeing it a couple times as a kid and just not being very impressed with the story though the animation is wonderfully twisted as usual. Kind of hard to get into that Spirit of '76 mode at Christmas. I've been able to see it as a grown up now on the Year Without A Santa Claus DVD and it just doesn't gel. I think with these things if you didn't connect with them as a kid it's a lost cause by the time you're grown up.

It's better than Nestor or Frosty Returns though. Those outright suck.

I grew up watching this as a kid and saw it again for the first time a few years back. It brough back a whole bunch of childhood memories. The story may be kinda lame, but i think with the crap kids watch today, this is definitely no worse.

Found it on youtube. I haven't seen it since I was a kid and I barely remember it then. It is rather bland and uninteresting. I think it was just an attempt to cash in on Rudolph's initial success but kids don't really care about the passing of the new year. After watching it on youtube I can see why I forgot so much about it.

He feeds off pain, regret...the delicious moments when hope is lost.
