George MacDonald Fraser RIP

George MacDonald Fraser died on 2 Jan at the age of 82.

Thanks for the marvellous work George...

"Tinkerty tonk," I said, and I meant it to sting.

Rest in peace,old chap.

Yes absolutely - he brought a lot of entertainment to people and was always gracious enough to reply to letters. I, and many others, will miss him greatly. RIP George.
I am rather hoping that he completed the odd extra Flashy maqnuscript before he died. Any chance do you think?

He said he had one more book in him but was too ill the last year to write anything. Apparently his publishers have checked, and in their words - "the bottom draw was empty".

So, we have our 12 Flashman stories. A shame we'll never get to know how he fought on both sides in the American Civil War, how he ended up at Rourkes Drift and so on.

It's a great pity. I love his Flashman stories. If only a film company (the right film company) would start to film his books. What a fitting tribute to this great writer.
