1. Refusing to quit or retire from a sport repeatedly will get it to the point where there are no rules

2. There are no cars in the future, only helicopters.

3. Women in this next to perfect future are like Soylent Green's furniture girls.

4. A woman can go to Indianapolis on a whim

5. Somehow and miraculously, a tranquil and war free world was created within 40 years by eliminating government, venting by watching a roller derby sport, and replacing with corporations and happy pills for all.

6. The rollerball arenas look exactly the same whether in Houston, Tokyo, or New York.

7. Ricky Schroder's grandfather in Silver Spoons makes a fine CEO for Rollerball

8. Houston, Texas in the future looks like a German city

9. The piney woods of east Texas are now filled with lavish cocktail parties with guests that shoot trees on fire

10. "No Called Fouls" is probably not a good idea.

11. N. Jewison can direct any type of film.

12. something about the name "moonpie"... Beck also played characters called Noogy, Skinny, Pov, and Buzz.

13. computers in the future can't handle the truth. (See also: Logan's Run...)

Jonathan's close friend Moonpie did make some derisive remarks about the Tokyo rollerball team. He thought they were too small to beat Houston. Did he say anything else that could be considered racist? I almost expected Moonpie to have trouble against Tokyo. He got jumped by three of their players. I think management instructed them to take him out as a way to get Jonathan to retire. I think all the players for the Houston team were Black or white. I don't think they had any Asians, Latins or other races. Does that seem odd for 2018?

Moonpie making out with a Black woman did not surprise me. Guys like him try to nail anything with two legs, two bumps, three holes and a heartbeat.

No Latinos or Asians for the Houston team in 2018 is odd? Absolutely! Houston has been full of those people for the past 30 years or more. Asians outnumber everybody else at their Ikea store! And good point about Moonpie. He just wanted a woman as long as she was attractive, regardless of race. Of course, there are no unattractive or overweight women in this movie, LOL!

I bet the Houston Texans football team has very few Asian or Latin players......so not odd at all.

Interesting point about Asians. Even the cocky "Speedball from Manila" looked about as Aryan as Dolph Lundgren.

29. In a sporting event where the direction of travel is always counter-clockwise on a 10-foot wide track, people will still take a long time to get into position near the goal and will seem surprised to see the ball.

The leisure suit will still be in style in 2018 (according to Ben on TCM, it takes place in 2018)

Scoreboards for sporting events will be designed in a cool retro style from the 60s and 70s.

And retro-style football helmets will be all the rage.

But the numbers on the jerseys will be that futuristic looking fonts that were only in style in 1970s movies about the future.

If you support a team from Madrid, you should wear their team colors (green) with 'Rollerball' written on it instead of say, 'Madrid'.

The choice of music at cocktail parties will have a funky disco guitar rhythym with cheesy Eno-inspired synths. And no lyrics.
