Movie Ending - alternate ending DVD

ok, I just watched this on TCM. Yes, Turner Classic Movies, and it was delightful! Good tension with reasonable, believable terror. Some very good revenge kills too! A definate inspiration for several notable film makers, and possibly novices as well. However, I did not like the ending.

-Spoiler Alert-

Here is the alt DVD (Detour Video Direction) ending:

When our survivors in their RV come to rest at the end, and they decide, hey we should have a drink; I was like, oh sh_t the satanists drugged, or poisoned the liquor. I mean, they could have at least, when they planted the mother f__ing snakes on the mother f__ing RV!! The guy says "I make a very dry martini", they drink and get all woosy. Then the survivors could have awaken while part of a satanic ritual like they witnessed at the beginning, and we see someone else witnessing 'their' murders!! Thus renewing the terror!!

That, in my opinion, would have been a perfect ending.

I watched it for the first time last night, too. And was also VERY disappointed in the ending.

Love your idea. Think satanic sacrifices have to be virgins...but still a great idea.

Lara Parker (who played Kelly) had a pretty interesting idea for an alternative ending which she related during the DVD commentary: her idea was that they all got home safe, woke up the next morning only to find Kelly missing (who has been pretty sentient about the evil during the entire movie), only her clothes are left in the bed.

Nah, ending was fine the way it was. Scared the p!ss outta me when that fire trail went up and the "IIIII-yiiiiii-iiiiiiiii-ooohhhhh---uhhhhhhhh!" Perfect "Ohhhhhhhhh sh!t" style finish.
