Great news! I saw it last week, regrettably a few days after I had already ordered my Region 2 DVD from Amazon UK (where it's not discontinued OR sold at a ridiculously exhorbitant price)... Kudos to Shout Factory!,anyway, for re-releasing this '70s cult favorite!.
Apparently, all the special features from the previous Anchor Bay release are going to be ported over (which included a commentary with Executive Producer Paul Maslansky, Actress Lara Parker, and DVD producer Perry Martin), supposedly along with some new stuff, but it hasn't been revealed what they will be.
DVD? How quaint. I breathlessly await the Beta, VHS, laserdisc, Selectavision, U-matic, and 8 mm film versions. And the rereleased soundtracks on Elcaset, MiniDisc, Digital Compact Cassette, Digital Audio Tape, PlayTape, 8-track, Compact Cassette, 7" reel to reel, monophonic 12" long-playing record, 10" 78 rpm, wax cylinder, sheet music, and itinerant troubadour.
Or is there a Blu-ray version you forgot to mention?
In some cases, for whatever reason there is no HD transfer available, and the studio doesn't feel like spending dough for a new one. All new transfers done for over ten years now are HD, if not 4K or 8K, to preserve value for later higher-res editions. The original DVD is, I think, around 10 years old, so it's possible it wasn't an HD transfer.
